ISO/TC295 Audit Data Services Plenary Meeting Held at Hotel Zuiderduin, Netherlands

Overview of the Meeting

From December 12th to 13th, 2023, the ISO/TC295 Audit Data Services plenary meeting was held at the scenic Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands. This meeting served as a platform for international audit experts to convene and share the latest developments and innovations.

The meeting took place at Hotel Zuiderduin, a location that offered a special experience for the participants. Situated at Zeeweg 52, 1931 VL Egmond aan Zee, the hotel is known for its beautiful coastline and relaxing environment.

Meeting Highlights

Several important topics were addressed during the meeting:

Working Group Status Reports

Following the general status report, the status of various working groups was presented.
From China, the progress on adapting ISO 21378:2019 to national standards and the draft drafting status of a project led by China on payroll data were reported.
The Netherlands presented their progress on drafting a standard regarding indirect taxes such as customs duties.

Progress Report on Semantic Model Efforts

I chaired the report on the activities of Study Group 1 Semantic model and presented on ISO/AWI 21926 Semantic model for audit data services based on this study group’s efforts.

Audit and AI

Proposals on the application of AI in auditing from the Netherlands, China, and India focused on how these countries are integrating and utilizing AI in the audit process.

Auditing ESG Reporting

The workshop proposals from China and Japan on the auditing of ESG reporting shared the importance of ESG reporting.
Additionally, from Japan, an introduction to the Universal Audit Data Converter based on XBRL Japan’s POC was presented, discussing the standardization and efficiency of ESG reporting.

Conclusion

The ISO/TC295 Audit Data Services plenary meeting was a significant gathering of experts from around the world, charting the course for the future of the audit process.
